Dear Taste Buds!
We are excited to welcome our first cohort of Apprentices as part of the Fort Worx Accelerated Foodservice Apprenticeship Program. Fort Worx is a collaboration between Taste Project, the Tarrant Area Food Bank, the Culinary School of Fort Worth, and Texas Workforce Solutions. Fort Worx is the first program of its kind offering paid work experience as part of a tuition-free American Culinary Federation certified program.
Starting on Tuesday, June 1st you will see four new faces regularly in the Kitchen at Taste Community Restaurant. Khayla, Takeya, Jeffrey, and Isaac will be joining us full-time for the next 8 weeks.
As a part of this new program addition, Misty Farrand has been promoted to Sous Chef. She will be supporting Danielle Roberts in the execution of our Foodservice Apprenticeship Program and our daily pay-what-you-can meal services. Misty's foodservice experience, relational approach to training, and passion for the Taste Project mission will play a critical role in each Apprentices' success.
Additionally, Lorna Benes and Greg Nelson will be supporting Danielle Roberts in providing our apprentices with Life Skills Training including resume building, interview skills, and personal budgeting. Lorna has a background in Human Resources, is a graduate of the Culinary School of Fort Worth, and is a fellow Taste Bud. Greg Nelson retired from IBM, is also a fellow Taste Bud, and he currently sits on the board of Directors for Taste Project. Both Lorna and Greg's cross section of skills will help ensure our Apprentices are successful.
I am excited to see all that God has in store for these Apprentices and all of the Apprentices that will follow. Please join me in congratulating Misty, welcoming Lorna, thanking Greg for his continued support, and supporting our four new Apprentices over the next 8 weeks and in their life-long success.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Williams
